Los Angeles – It’s Oscar’s time to shine.
Following an unusually jam-packed awards season that includes the Emmys, Grammys, Screen Actors Guild Awards, BAFTAs and Golden Globes, the Academy Awards bestows filmmaking's highest honors in 23 categories.
Now in its 96th year, the Oscars are still finding ways to reinvent themselves with a new start time aimed at crowning the Best Picture winner before bedtime.
What time does the Oscars start?
This year's Oscar ceremony begins an hour earlier at 7pm ET/4pm PDT. D is important. Today is the first day of daylight saving time in the United States. ABC is available using an antenna or through cable and satellite providers.
What if I want to stream the Oscars?
For cord cutters, the show is available to stream with a subscription on Hulu Live TV, YouTubeTV, AT&T TV, and Fubo TV.
I don't live in the US. How can I watch the Oscars?
The Oscars are widely broadcast outside the United States. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences offers a handy guide to his more than 200 international territories that will telecast the Oscars.
How can I watch the red carpet?
The Oscars red carpet (yes, champagne was the color of choice in 2023, but red is back this year) is a major fashion showcase. Past, present and future Oscar nominees and winners pose and mingle ahead of the ceremony.
Start times have been moved up, with the carpet beginning at 3:30 PM ET/12:30 PM PT.
ABC will air “Countdown to the Oscars: On the Red Carpet Live!” on ABC News Live starting at 1 p.m. ET.
The Associated Press will livestream the star's arrival and interview in two livestreams available on APNews.com and YouTube.
Is there a way to watch the Oscars afterparty?
Oscar winners and even stars who weren't in attendance at the ceremony gather at the Vanity Fair party after the show. This is where newcomer Oscar winners Michelle Yeoh, Brendan Fraser and Ke Hui Quan were attacked by a mob last year, leading to the infamous slapping moment and Will Smith's Best Actor win in 2022. Afterward, Will Smith and his family danced the night away.
The Associated Press will livestream stars arriving at the Vanity Fair party on YouTube starting at 11 p.m. ET.
I need to cram for the Oscars. What might win? And how can I watch the nominated films?
Associated Press film writers Lindsey Bahr and Jake Coyle have their predictions for this year's show. Their top-category reviews explain the fierce Best Actress race, why “Oppenheimer” is a headline-grabbing night, and other trivia. They also make predictions for all 23 categories, including everything from short films to makeup and hairstyling.
This year's nominated films are widely available on streaming. The Associated Press has put together a guide to where you can watch it, whether you want to cram in a movie before the show or catch up after it.
