John Cena is the “most prepared actor” Peter Farrelly has ever worked with.
The 67-year-old director returns to his comedy roots with Amazon Prime Video's “Ricky Stanicki,'' in which wrestler-turned-actor John, 46, decides to star in his own starring role after watching “Peacemaker.'' He revealed that he knew that.
“Someone called me and said, 'Have you seen Peacemaker?'” he told The Hollywood Reporter. “What is that?” I said. “That's something you don't normally watch. I kept watching it and thought, 'This guy is unbelievable.' What he was doing on that show was hysterical, and as soon as I saw it I thought, 'This is Stanick. I was hoping he would agree, and he did.
“It's mostly in the script. It's always with us. Some people start with a rough script and find it. I don't have the confidence to do it. I write it down and I You have to understand what they're doing.'' But once you understand that, you say, “Let's try this, let's try that…'' Without a doubt. I would say he was the most prepared actor I've ever worked with. On the first day, he knew. The entire script, front to back, every line. ”
Zac Efron also stars in the film, and Peter was excited to reunite with him after working together on The Greatest Beer Run Ever.
He said: “I actually met Zach probably seven or eight years ago. We were trying to get him involved in a project. I really liked him, but it didn't work out. Then 'Beer Run' happened and I was so excited.'' He's a dream come true for any director, because when you come to him you're like, “What do you think? Are you good?'' “A lot of actors have them in their heads. He trusts you completely and that's a good thing.”
