Aiken audiences can enjoy a program as part of the Aiken Civic Orchestra's Pops Series Concerts on Wednesday, March 13, at 7 p.m.
The Aiken Civic Orchestra will honor Jesse Collin Young's more than 50-year career and perform some of his greatest hits. This program is offered to assist you in your music studies at USC Aiken. The Aiken Civic Orchestra is proud to be a local orchestra featuring some of the best musicians in the greater Aiken/Augusta area. His ACO, now in its 12th season, is committed to partnering, collaborating, and engaging as many communities as possible through music. Over the years, ACO has regularly collaborated with many local music groups and organizations. The ACO will present his four series of concerts, covering a wide variety of music including classical, pop, community and chamber music.
A particular source of pride comes from musically enriching and investing in the lives of young musicians and making a positive and lasting impact. Many of his ACO musicians teach and mentor students through her CSRA. Many events during the season are designed with students in mind.
In September, ACO partnered with Aiken and Edgefield County Schools to host a series of children's concerts for area fourth graders.
Last March, Davidson Fine Arts students had the opportunity to perform for a unique side-by-side experience.
The ACO sponsors an annual youth concerto competition for young musicians. The winner of this competition will have the opportunity to perform with the orchestra.
Apart from individual events, some of the region's best students are invited to actively participate in the orchestra throughout the remainder of the season.
ACO also maintains a relationship with USC Aiken's School of Visual and Performing Arts. Several years ago, ACO held several benefit concerts in support of the All Steinway Campaign. The ACO has partnered with USC Aiken to offer collegiate string students orchestral opportunities that count toward ensemble credit as independent study courses. For the past several years, ACO has worked with Winter Nocturne at USC Aiken to contribute to her musical studies at USC Aiken.
