Welcome to the spotlight! All eight of you may have missed me last week while I was out, so I'll do my best to show that I'm a better version of myself and will be back. What does that mean in my situation? Well, we've recently witnessed an impressive range and reinvention from familiar faces and names. Beyoncé's rise to the top of the charts is certainly not surprising, per se, but it's because she branched out from her familiar R&B/pop categories into country music. . In doing so, Beyoncé made history as the first black woman to reach the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 with a country song. Former Disney Channel star and recording artist Brigitte Mendler (who went on to earn a master's degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a J.D. from Harvard Law School) has worked her way through history, becoming a star herself. and founded a satellite data startup. Again, newness doesn't always lead to better. Major League Baseball realized that when it was revealed that the new Nike uniforms coming out this year would be see-through/partially see-through (in more ways than one). So I went back to square one (although I may have considered leaning into this piece as a way to engage the audience). In any case, rather than reinventing it, I'm going to carry out my best plan of keeping you informed on all things sports and entertainment, with a sprinkling of wordplay, dad jokes, and pranks (maybe?). This is:
- Hip-hop artists Kanye (“Ye”) West and Ty Dolla $ign and their controversial album, Vulture I Black Sabbath frontman Ozzy Osbourne has already been accused of using a musical sample of Black Sabbath's rendition of “Iron Man” (which Osbourne had withheld approval due to Ye's hateful anti-Semitism). The company has been under threat of lawsuits and is now being sued by Donna Summer's estate. for an unauthorized sample of the late singer's hit song titled “I Feel Love.” I am reminded of an old saying. “The title of the song you choose cannot be written by a better person.''
- A Kansas City Chiefs fan, a “Chiefsaholic,'' could go to prison for more than a dozen robberies, or what the criminal justice system calls a “Thiefsaholic.''
- The New York Jets' flagship radio station will no longer be ESPN New York. No tears will be shed for ESPN New York, as they are choosing to give up their FM signal – they are well aware of the Jets' loss.
- LSU gymnast Olivia Dunn unveiled a billboard in New York's Times Square as part of her sponsorship deal with clothing brand Nautica. Without name, image, and likeness (NIL) opportunities, college athletes would not have these opportunities.
