Dave Bautista was “physically ill” before his early matches in WWE.
The wrestler-turned-Hollywood actor, who will reprise his role as Grosse Labam in Dune: Part 2, has reflected on his own struggles with anxiety and revealed how he overcomes stage fright.
“I'm anxious. When I started wrestling, before I retired, I literally felt physically sick,” he told the Arizona News. [from] curtain.
“I often step out from behind the curtains, [screams.] And all my anxiety disappeared. That's it.
“I get nervous, self-conscious and then anxious, but as soon as I go, [screams] It disappears. For me it's easy. And from there you can relax. ”
That aggression has influenced his recent roles, as he had already learned to get “angry” to cope with such insecurities.
He added, “It's funny because it came so naturally to me. If there's one thing I got from wrestling, it's being angry. I'm very good at being angry.”
Bautista retired from WWE in 2019 after his farewell match with Triple H at WrestleMania 35, and was scheduled to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame the following year.
