A commitment announcement will be made on 247Sports tomorrow afternoon (3:15 p.m. ET), with Michigan in full control of the 247Sports Crystal Ball for 2025 four-star offensive lineman Avery Gatch. , all eight predictions are in their favor.
The Wolverines have been leading Gatch's crystal ball since November, and within the past two weeks, seven of his eight predictions have come true. The University of Michigan has made the Birmingham (Mich.) Groves native a priority for more than a calendar year, with Grant Newsome taking over the recruitment after Sherone Moore was promoted to head coach.
Mr. Newsom visited nearby Groves High School on Monday to check on Mr. Gatch one last time before the announcement. The Wolverines are competing with Ohio State, Michigan State and Wisconsin for his commitment.
The four-star player is currently ranked No. 196 overall in the 2025 Top 247 and has been compared by analysts to former Wolverine captain Ben Bredeson in our scouting report.
A high school offensive tackle who could be the next level swing guy. He is a tenacious and physical player who finishes plays at the whistle. He shows functional strength and pad level, plus a genuine willingness to get defenders off the ball, all of which make him a dominant run blocker. There are still technological advances in pass sets and pass pro. There, too, his physicality is evident in his punches. He was a left tackle in high school and may suit up as a right-side option or inside player at the high-major level. It has added great weight and strength and will continue to do so. Although he is a solid base-level athlete, he can continue to improve his pure explosive strength and lateral agility as well. A high-flying prospect who would add depth to a major school at multiple positions and become a reliable starting pitcher for multiple years at the Power Five level.
247Sports will have more to learn leading up to and after Gatti's decision.
