Sustainability Magazine attended Schneider Electric's Innovation Summit Paris 2024 to hear from the executives behind the innovation.
Data and AI drive energy efficiency
Efficiency is essential to reducing energy usage, and Schneider Electric and its partners believe data is the key.
“There is so much data available, yet it is so little used in the industry,” said Kasper Hertzberg, CEO of Schneider Electric partner AVEVA. “The potential of AI is only realized when we leverage data.”
Schneider Electric provides customers with the visibility they need, reduces headcount requirements to address workforce shortages, and manages energy data from modern mixed-use buildings to the grid level for maximum efficiency. We are putting data analytics at the heart of new technologies to achieve this.
The company believes AI can remove barriers to sustainability for consumers, such as adopting sustainable technologies and charging EVs during off-peak grid hours.
“I don’t see how we can move forward with the energy transition without AI,” said Philipp Lambak, chief AI officer at Schneider.
partnership
Partnerships are at the heart of how Schneider Electric operates. The Paris Innovation Summit hosted a celebration of Impact His Manufacturers, partners with whom Schneider Electric celebrates sustainable impact, including Henkel, Blackrock, Nexans, Infineon, Technoservices and JLL.
“We can't solve these big problems alone; we need partnerships,” said Chistopher Guerin, CEO of Nexans.
At the heart of the partnership is Connect, a leading industrial intelligence platform from AVEVA and Schneider Electric that uses trusted data from a wide range of companies and sectors to improve sustainability and efficiency.
“The key is how can we share knowledge and build these ecosystems,” explains Barbara Frey, executive vice president of industrial automation at Schneider Electric.
The platform brings data together in one place, allowing customers to access industry information in context, make decisions based on real-time intelligence, and visualize their data all in one place. This highlights the importance of partnerships in driving efficiency.
