Your backyard will look better than ever after a spruce up by the owner.
They say a DIY patio has made a huge difference in their home renovation.
Redditor Trillva posted a photo of the upgrade on the social media platform.
“Completely transformed our backyard,” they wrote.
The Reddit user said it was his first time doing home renovations.
“My brother helped us build the fence in one day,” they said.
“We worked a lot of evenings and weekends and completed the patio in about four weeks.
“I’m the type of person who focuses on getting something done, so I have a lot of time to enjoy it.
“Other small projects were completed over the course of an afternoon or weekend.”
like a christmas tree
The backyard patio was definitely a bit dingy and much of the extra clutter has been removed.
The Reddit user also added a smoothly paved patio and ambient lighting.
“Paving the patio required the removal of three tonnes of soil, which was done by hand using shovels,” they said.
“We then filled the holes with 8 inches of compacted crusher run gravel to establish a solid foundation before laying sand and paving.
“My garden slopes slightly upwards away from the house, so I decided to add a small step into the lawn and slope the patio towards the existing drainage ditch to help with water runoff. Did.”
the devil is in the details
A DIY-savvy Redditor explained how introducing certain outdoor items can make a huge difference.
They installed a custom fireplace that they purchased from Facebook Marketplace.
How to turn your backyard into a little paradise
Houna Bech is an interior designer and founder of the style blog With Houna.
She shared with The US Sun her five tips for transforming a bleak outdoor space into a “sensory little paradise.”
1. Embrace nature
“Use landscaping, trees, flowers, and the organic environment as your muse,” she said.
2. Bringing the inside out
“Repeat color palettes, textures, and materials to make the transition between indoors and outdoors seamless,” she said.
3. Create zones for specific purposes
“Maybe I'll design a luxurious cabana with a plush lounger and vanity for an outdoor makeup session with my girlfriends,” she said.
4. Make comfort a priority
“I'm talking about cloud-like sectionals, upholstered daybeds, and oversized weatherproof poufs that you can really wrap yourself in,” she said.
5. Be creative
“Finally, transform your entire outdoor area into an artistic installation,” says Beck.
“Other small touches include string lights and an 'accent wall fence' using leftover paint from the porch,” they said.
They also fire-stained the new fence before applying a clear coat and “used some of the existing stone to add a flowerbed and a walkway to the back gate.”
“The only future plan is to add a small shed, preferably in the back corner of the garden.”
They say the cost of the backyard is well worth it for a job well done.
“In total, I think it was about $3,000 and a few hours of my own labor,” they said.
“But it's worth it to me.”
