The video was shared on April 22 and has amassed more than 1,70,000 views and created a stir on several social media platforms. “With the current Din and Gukesh formats, it's easy for Gukesh to wish the same format continues,” the user wrote. Another user commented, “This is a classic example of 'you can be whatever you think you are.'”

Former world champion Magnus Carlsen, who was asked to evaluate the field of eight athletes in the open section, said he could not imagine Gukesh beating the contenders. “I see him in the +2 to -5 range (at the end of the tournament). He's definitely going to win at least a few games, but he's also going to lose pretty badly. “I don't think so, but I also don't think he'll do too well. He's not ready to make the leap yet. It's likely that something bad happened to him.”
