If you see what Dust Moto and Stark Futures have done with motocross bikes, you already know that electrifying an off-road vehicle can be truly awesome. But what happens when you take an already awesome vehicle like a three-wheeler and put a ridiculously powerful electric motor on it?
If you've ever ridden a tricycle, you'll understand why it was illegal at one point and why making a DIY electric motor for your tricycle is probably not a good idea. Well, everyone except the lads at Cboys TV, and we're forever grateful for that.
Naturally, there's no straightforward conversion kit for building an electric tricycle, so they had to get creative.
To build a sturdier chassis, the boys used parts from an old CRF 450RX that they had already converted into a three-wheeler, and the front end of a GasGas MC 85. But the power source, battery, seat and part of the swingarm all come from one of the E-bike Pros featured in a recent video.
Of course, because this trike was made for a beefy guy named Gavin, they had to build a monster extension to the swingarm and beef up the rear suspension to work with the two rear wheels. If you've seen any of the viral three-wheeler videos in the past year or two, you're probably familiar with this Honda three-wheeler madman named Gavin.
But before Gavin gets his hands on this monster, Ben tests it to see if it has enough power to spin an extra wheel: As soon as he touches the throttle, the front wheel lifts and the tricycle flies up as if fired from a cannon.
When Gavin arrives, things get crazy fast as wheelies, burnouts and donuts ensue, but soon it's time for the electric three-wheeler to head to the most dangerous location in Cboys' work: the off-road track.
Will their latest mutant survive the rigors of off-roading? Watch the video to find out.
