HARFORD COUNTY, Md. — Volunteers are needed to serve on the Harford County School Board Audit Committee. The five-member committee assists the Board in fulfilling its fiduciary oversight responsibilities.
The Committee serves as an independent and objective body that oversees HCPS' financial reporting processes and internal controls. The audit committee's core function is to examine the internal auditor's strategy, plans, and performance and ensure that action is taken as necessary.

The Board of Supervisors is comprised of five members: two from the Board of Education and three members of the general population of Harford County. The term of office of a citizen member is her three-year term, and the intervals between appointments are irregular. Commissioners are appointed by the Board of Education and may serve up to two terms. The committee meets at least quarterly to review the activities of the Internal Audit Office.
