According to ITP Live, a 17-year-old American teenager named Allison Boles suffered severe burns on her hands while trying the latest DIY sugar waxing trend. She was diagnosed with severe second-degree burns that took more than four weeks to heal. Alison's mother told US-based media channel Kennedy News that her daughter had made the sugar wax seen in the viral TikTok video.
She added that while she was turning the mixture, the sugar wax popped and the hot mixture fell onto her daughter's thumb. She further explained that when her daughter rushed to the sink to wash off her mixture, her skin had already peeled off from the heat from the substance. Alison said she was lucky that doctors were already aware of the trend, as this was the hospital's second incident involving sugar wax.
