The University of Oklahoma is aiming for back-to-back top-10 classes in the On3 Industry Football Team Recruiting Rankings under coach Brent Venables. The Sooners, who finished ninth in 2024, are aiming for the top of the cycle, guided by a bumper crop within their own state. Six of Sooner State's top 10 players are already at OU.
Venables and his company are seeking to capture at least three more in-state targets, as well as pursuing top recruits across the country. Early in the cycle, Sooners tend to target several key targets for the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM), outlined below.
4-star CB Tristan Haynes
school: Midwest City (Oklahoma) Carl Albert
On3 industry ranking:No.148
On3 RPM: Oklahoma State 93.3%, University of Notre Dame 1.7%
intel: “Race for” Tristan Haynes It starts in Oklahoma. He is scheduled to return to the in-state school this weekend for the spring game and is highly coveted by the Norman staff. Haynes visited Notre Dame last weekend and is scheduled to return for an official visit in June. Texas A&M is also in the race.Georgia and Miami round out his top five, but Haynes has two teammates contributing to the Sooners, and Brent Venables hopes to add a third star from Carl Alberts High School.” — On3 Recruiting Chad Simmons, Director
4 stars ATH CJ Nixon
school: Weatherford (Oklahoma)
On3 industry ranking:No.127
On3 RPM: Oklahoma State 99.1%, Auburn <1%
skinny: As the Sooner State's top uncommitted recruit, there are few bigger goals for OU right now. CJ Nixon. The 6'5, 220-pound jumbo athlete is probably projected as an edge rusher at the next level, but he has strong numbers on both sides of the ball. In his three seasons in college, he totaled 94 catches, 1,535 yards, and 18 touchdowns. And on defense, he recorded 54 total tackles and four tackles for loss.
Auburn and several other schools are on the table, but the Sooners appear to be the frontrunners as of now.
4 Star IOL Antoni Cade Ogumoro
school: Elgin (Oklahoma)
On3 industry ranking:No.371
On3 RPM: Oklahoma 87.8%, Kansas 4.8%
intel: “The big-time blocker from Saipan made his third visit to Norman in just over a month. And in doing so, it became his earliest official visit. Brent Venables Era. The family visited Norman on Friday and decided to make the most of their time on campus on Sunday. His brother and his father had to return home on Sunday morning, but Antoni Cade Ogumoro And the mother remained all day.
As for Ogumolo himself, this visit appears to be a continuation of the Sooners' momentum. The Sooners continue to have a positive impact on his recruitment, and it's enough that the Scoop staff decided to go with him on their Oklahoma projection. ” — Josh McCuishon, SoonerScoop.com
3 Star IOL Darius Afaraba
school: Lehi (Utah) Skyridge
On3 industry ranking:No.455
On3 RPM: Oklahoma State 83.3%, UCLA 3.7%, Washington State 3.2%
intel: “The University of Oklahoma has worked hard in Utah over the years and almost guaranteed a spot at Lehigh Skyridge EDGE for the Class of 2023.” Tausiri Akana In the end, they chose Texas on National Signing Day. Now, the Sooners have offered the offensive lineman a Red-White game and he's back at Skyridge. Darius Afaraba.
And the first words from Afarava I mean, things went really well while in Norman, even exceeding offers. But the Sooners hung on hard after Afalaba, and Afalaba appears to be moving forward with him, with offers from LSU, UCLA, Washington, Tennessee, and more. Josh McCuishon, SoonerScoop.com
