A DIY-savvy homeowner wowed everyone by adding an accent wall to her bare entryway.
She showed us the entire process of creating an eye-catching accent wall in her home.
Accent walls have experienced a resurgence in popularity in recent years with homeowners looking to express their individuality.
According to decorating company Pinnacle, design choices that create focal points can make a room feel larger or add dimension to a large space.
A TikTok user who posts under the handle @improvdiary has amassed more than 14,000 followers by sharing home improvement projects.
She revealed how she created an accent wall in her entryway, which unexpectedly became a hot topic on the app.
She bought the “cheapest” wooden strips in size 1 X 2 and cut them to the height of the wall.
She demonstrated the process of staining the fringing strips with the red oak color of Mini Wax before drilling holes perpendicular to the wall.
She painted a gray color next to the feature and she said it was Behr's Iron Mountain.
Meanwhile, the main wall color was City Loft by Sherwin-Williams.
She installed a 15-foot LED strip light behind a half-moon mirror she purchased from Pottery Barn, then connected it to a box light sold on Amazon for $45.99.
She didn't reveal the brand of LED lights used, but the affordable items can be found on Amazon for just $11.99.
Over 10,000 customers have purchased products from this retailer in the past month.
The TikToker said that both lighting features needed to be wired through an outlet located under the shelf next to the accent wall.
The impressive results of the DIY project garnered around 57,000 likes and many comments.
“Amazing. Thanks for sharing. I'm going to do this for my favorite front door,” one person said.
“I remember when the accent wall was a different color wall than the other three walls,” another commented.
“This is beautiful.”
