today: After an overnight break, rain will return from the west around 8 or 9 a.m. and will quickly cover most of the viewing area. The chance of rain and isolated storms today is currently up to 90%. Rain is expected to fall heavily in the morning, then taper off and on in the afternoon, but will remain widespread. A storm forming in the South this afternoon and tonight could bring hail, with a low chance (level 1/5) of heavy hail. This potential is primarily south of I-80. Temperatures could stay the same or drop into the 40s today due to clouds, rain and wind gusts of 16 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.
toniI agree: The chance of rain tonight has also increased to 70%. In the south, rain may begin with storms. Low temperatures are expected to continue dropping into the mid to upper 30s by dawn Tuesday, resulting in a possible switch to rain and snow, especially in the north. Winds remain strong from the north-northeast, 16 to 20 mph, with maximum gusts of 30 mph.
Tuesday: The low pressure system responsible for the active weather will stay to the east, resulting in a much different forecast. First, Tuesday is expected to remain cloudy with a high chance of rain. Combined with continued strong northerly winds, maximum temperatures have dropped significantly to the lower to mid 40s, with temperatures in the upper 30s in the east. We may see winter combinations throughout the day, but they can be difficult to accumulate.
A “Storm Track 7 Yellow ALERT DAY” was issued Wednesday due to strong northwesterly winds sustained at 20 to 30 mph, with gusts up to about 45 mph.
Wednesday: Scattered snow showers are expected Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. Clouds will remain for most of Wednesday, with highs hovering in the 40s. Winds will be out of the northwest around 45 mph with gusts possible.
the remaining parts week: There will be plenty of sunshine for the rest of the week, but Thursday and Friday will see continued northwesterly winds and cooler temperatures. Those in their 60s will have to wait until the weekend.
I hope the rest of your day goes smoothly.
