I'm trying to use Logitech's Signature AI Edition M750 wireless mouse. I really am! But I'm stumbling on this little point and it's literally making me more frustrated than it needs to be.
This is an interesting and polarizing concept. By placing the “AI” button at the top of the mouse, Logitech gives users one click to access her ChatGPT and the next he can do one thing. It simplifies text writing and rewriting through an AI app called Logi Prompt Builder. . It's a bit like Windows running on top of DOS.
It's a novel idea, and one you might expect Microsoft to develop, given the Copilot keys already on laptop keyboards. Instead, Logitech is leading the way. The important thing to note is that Logi AI Prompt Builder is basically supported by all mice and keyboards Made by LogitechSo the M750 is just a showcase for this new technology. I'm sure you can use it too!
The problem is that Logitech's Prompt Builder doesn't support one of the most basic functions of a mouse, which is very annoying. And did we mention that Microsoft has already made some improvements to it?
the mouse itself
Let's briefly discuss the mouse itself. The Logitech M750 is clearly based on other Logitech “signature” hardware such as the M650.
The M750 is a semi-ambidextrous mouse, with a neutral grip, but the thumb buttons can only be used by right-handed users. The mouse is small at approximately 4.25 inches long and 2.5 inches wide, making it ideal for users who prefer to control the mouse with their fingertips rather than putting the weight of their entire hand on the mouse. It can be used via Bluetooth or a small dongle stored in the mouse itself. Logitech's Smart Switch technology lets you pair it with up to three PCs, and the mouse supports his cool 2018 PC-to-PC Logitech Flow technology. Uses one AA battery.

The M750 has two primary buttons, and of course the scroll wheel can also function as a third button. Out of the box, one of the two thumb buttons is set to launch Windows voice input, and the other launches a dedicated ChatGPT window. (This window differs from Prompt Builder in that it accesses ChatGPT directly.)
I usually use a dedicated left-handed gaming mouse, and the M750's gliding motion is smooth, with short, efficient click travel.

Logitech typically offers multiple color options for their mice, but the M750 is a solid gray with a bright green button in the middle. Clicking on it will launch the AI Prompt Builder.
How the Logi prompt builder works
The Logi Prompt Builder is essentially a component of the Logi Options+ app, which Logitech uses to control the functionality of various peripherals. Logitech seemed to like downloading Options+ whether I asked for it or not, and it magically appeared on my PC. Logitech says Options+ users need to set up his Prompt Builder, and I was asked to do so as well with a quick introduction to what each feature does.
logitech
Think of Prompt Builder as a kind of GUI on top of ChatGPT. (Uses ChatGPT 3.5 by default, but if you have a subscription to ChatGPT Plus, sold separately, you can also log in and use that.) This is a small window on top of other applications. is.
Prompt Builder does four basic things. You can paraphrase a block of text, summarize a block of text (or a web page), reply (just like writing an email), and compose an email. Each function comes with two options, and the options may vary. There is usually a “Length'' option in addition to “Style'' or “Tone.'' Each drop-down menu displays pre-selected options.

What Prompt Builder does is provide an easy to use interface on top of ChatGPT. Click Submit to convert your settings to a text prompt.
For example, let's say you want to rephrase this block of text.
If you are a Mac user and came across this article, welcome. However, keep in mind that early Apple MacBook Pros with Intel silicon support up to two his 4K displays. The first MacBook Pro with Apple M1 chip supports only one 4K display. For this reason, many Mac users have recently left negative reviews for his Thunderbolt dock on shopping sites. Buy a computer!
My prompt builder selection adds the following instructions for ChatGPT.
Paraphrase the following text: If you are a Mac user and came across this article, welcome. Please present it in a short and concise manner. Could you rework it to convey a more playful tone?
Logitech calls all of these features “recipes,” and you can also create your own. Basically, you're telling ChatGPT to do something. As such, there is a “Prompt” option, an “Input” text field, and two predefined parameters. That's not a bad idea. If you want to rewrite your prose in the style of Abraham Lincoln, or translate it into French in the style of Baudelaire, all you have to do is prompt it.
Where I stumble with Prompt Builder
Logitech has already made some interesting choices in its services that make text rewritten by AI better. But the prompt builder does have one thing. I don't It drives me crazy: Paste. Yes, paste it. If I select a block of text, right-click to copy, tap the AI button, and try to launch right-click to paste, nothing happens. The right-click menu does not seem to work within Prompt Builder.Yes, I can CTRL+V I typed my text into the box, but what good is that?
However, what you may not know is that Microsoft Copilot already offers something similar, and perhaps better. In fact, it's a little unpleasant. If you're typing into a text field in Edge (as I am as I write this article), you can highlight a block of text and Copilot will automatically rewrite it for you. (You can also use Alt+I,instead. ) Copilot automatically replaces the text if necessary.

Prompt Builder does not have a right-click option to select a block of text and perform an action from the right-click menu. You must copy the text, paste it with your keyboard, make adjustments, launch ChatGPT via the prompt builder, copy and paste the text into Word or a text editor. At least you can right-click and paste the edited text using Edge, Word, or Windows.
But what peripheral manufacturers like Logitech should excel at is ergonomics. If Logitech intends to make the software an essential part of the workflow, this particular aspect needs to be firmly established. Not at all, but not really. To steal a metaphor, the Logitech Prompt Builder and M750 still feel like drafts.
