If there's one thing I absolutely need in my life, it's a key chain. I keep my keys in my handbag and hang them in my hallway closet. This makes it much less likely that you'll forget your keys, but it's not the most stylish or smart way to hang them.
Of course, what you really need is a keychain. And I recently discovered the cutest DIY keychain. It's easy, affordable, and best of all, it uses LEGO!
How to make a Lego keychain
This hack comes courtesy of artist Alfred Sempel (@alfredsempel) on Instagram. As he shows, all you need to make this His LEGO keychain is his two simple things: a 32-stud His LEGO baseplate and a matching picture frame.
The blue 32 stud baseplate is available on Amazon for $6.88. According to the specifications listed, the dimensions are a little larger than 10×12. For $10, he paired it with an 11×13 inch frame, made sure everything fit, removed the front glass, and voila! Your very own LEGO keychain is now complete.
If you would like to choose a different color, you can purchase the baseplate directly from the LEGO website or you can also purchase the baseplate from Target. If you want a smaller or larger keychain, please choose the number of studs on the base plate accordingly. Be sure to check the specifications to ensure the frame will fit properly.
Please note that you will need to add a Lego key chain to all keys to hang keys on this keychain. We recommend purchasing directly from the LEGO website as these are not easily available on other websites and you want to be sure you can attach them to your keychain. You can get the red keychain or blue keychain for $5.99, and the green keychain for a discounted price of $3.59. Be sure to search for “Lego Brick Key Chain” to see other color options. Lego character key chains are cute, but they don't fit on keychains.
If keychains have rekindled your love for Lego, it might be time to check out our Lego coffee tables and really bring Lego into your home.
