A Delhi-based dentist said he will boycott Uber India after he was injured in an accident. Dr Ruchika claimed that he met with the accident while taking an Uber from his home to a nearby metro station on Saturday.
In a long thread on X, she also claimed that the driver's reckless driving caused the accident. “I boycott @Uber_India. Drivers with no driving license or driving experience are plying the roads without safety precautions or consideration for passengers, making it unsafe to ride with.” Yesterday. I met with an accident,” she posted.
Ruchika claimed that the driver made a mistake in turning and tried to make a U-turn without turning on the indicators. “He wouldn't even look behind him in the mirror to see if a car was coming,” she added.
Regarding her injuries, Ruchika said she was prescribed a large amount of medication and advised to rest for five days. “I bear all the losses financially, physically and emotionally,” she wrote.

Uber India responded to Ruchika's post and asked her to share her contact details. “This seems pretty scary, but we hope you and your driver are okay, Ruchika. Please share your registered contact details with us when you booked this trip via DM. Our safety team will contact you shortly,” the taxi company wrote.
Ruchika asked Uber to verify the identity of drivers before assigning them. In response, Uber said it had raised the issue with its team.
Last week, a man in Delhi accused an Uber driver of harassing his wife by demanding that she pay extra for just one kilometer ride.
