At least five people were injured in a shooting inside a nightclub in the Dupont Circle neighborhood of Northwest D.C. late Friday night.
Reports of a shooting in the 1200 block of Connecticut Avenue NW and 18th Street NW came in around 11:30 p.m.
Five people injured in the shooting were taken to a nearby hospital, but their injuries were not life-threatening. D.C. police also confirmed to WTOP that one suspect was taken into custody and a weapon was recovered from the scene.
In a post on X, Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner Raimy Kyle said the incident occurred after an altercation that started inside a nightclub spilled onto the street.
“The scene is safe and there is no further threat to the community,” D.C. police said in a post on X.
