Paper Umbrella and Water Bottle Flowers: Summer Crafts by Gina Tepper
It's summer time. If you're looking for fun decoration ideas that don't cost a lot of money, craft expert Gina Tepper is here to help. You always bring the coolest stuff, don't you? How are you doing this morning? You're on a roll. The things you make are really fun. Look at these fun decorations. It's summer. People are going to be hosting pool parties and all kinds of outdoor get-togethers. This is not only a way to really save money and not have to buy new stuff, but it's also a way to reuse things you already have. You're good at it. It's so much fun to make these things, you can get everybody together and have a little craft party. Some of them are like, you can kind of tell what they were made out of. I think this is a roll of paper towels or a roll of wrapping paper. Wrapping paper rolls are super durable. Yes, I love wrapping, so I made a tiki torch out of a roll of wrapping paper. I love tiki torches because they're so cool. Look at this. Here's one that I cut out. Yes. You can reuse them. And here's a rubber band. I just spray painted a can. I just paint this on there and cut a little bit. What are these little pieces made of? Well, I just took a piece of cardboard and I took that out. You can put little lights in it. Like balloon lights, you just put little lights in it and it lights up at night. I really love that when I'm having a party. Things light up. I'll show you this. This is my lighthouse. This lighthouse is super cool. It's an oatmeal container. Oh. This is the top of a drink or ice cream. Oh, yeah. Yeah, look. When it all comes together, I don't know what these pieces are, but they're super cool. Now, what I wanted to do was to have a little carnival and beach vibe. This is a ring toss, which I love. And this is just a water bottle, and I spray it. I put some stones in there and I made this out of a box. I cut out the lid of the box. Right. And I cut out the sides so I can make a lattice. Do you use glow lights for your rings? These are glow lights. It's so fun. These lights light up at night. You can tell which one is yours and you can pick the one you want. It's so fun. That's cool. I love a land turn like this one here. You can use a reused jar. And this is, um, I don't know if you can see it, but I love solar lights. Yeah, you pour paint in there and it lights up at night. It looks like paint is dripping in there. It's hard to see the glow, but I turned the jar off and you could see the paint dripping in there and I put it outside to dry. It's hot enough. It dries in like five minutes. Right. So, I did this. This is a reused jar. I did a beachy look. It's super cute. It's beach glass. I love the little twine that I wrapped around it. And the straw hat with all the different colors in it is super cool too. And then I put cookies in it. This is super fun. Everybody loves this. It's so easy. I got this for $2. It's amazing. And then I put some dollar tree flowers in there. Right, I just put some cupcakes in there. Everybody loves that. I was like, what a great idea to use a hat as a centerpiece. Oh, and make sure you don't knock the lantern over. That's super cool. I love what's here. I love the Ferris wheel. It's got little lollipops in the back too. Yeah, so cute. But are these just like little muffin cups? These are like cupcakes, and they're baked. Yeah. I just glued them in there. This is cardboard. This is a shoebox. I used craft foam. I thought this would be fun. And easy. You just do it. It certainly looks easy. When you see all the little pieces. But when you put them together, you're like, I can't do this. But you can. You just see the ideas. I'm here to inspire you, so you're like, oh, I can make that too. And this. I just made a sun, see that? Oh, this is fun too. This. Oops. I knocked the lighthouse over and over. I'm putting the lighthouse back here because I didn't want it to get dirty. So cool. I love this little hibiscus flower that you made. The water bottle. Look at this. I cut a water bottle and bent it down so this is visible. Yeah, you bend it down and you paint it. You use spray paint or acrylic paint. The trick is, if you have a paint that doesn't stick to plastic, you mix in a little bit of white glue. That way it will stick and not come off. It's gonna be cute. That's really clever, isn't it? I love this. Again, it's so easy to reuse something. And it looks so great. And then you just put a little, um, fish in there. A little pipe cleaner. Like a pipe cleaner. Yes. And then I put this here. I love this. Yes. Here's a cool lamp. And this one surprised everybody, because the top comes off. It's a really little wine glass. Yes. You put some tea lights in there and then you have a party and it lights up a little bit. I know it doesn't get dark that early, but when it gets dark, everything starts to light up because we have solar lights and these little lights and lanterns here. It's so fun. People are gonna see it and they're gonna think, wow, I didn't notice that. And it's so fun because it all just comes to life. This is something that I cut out like, “Oh, right,” and I have all these patterns and videos if you're interested in this. Yes. Do you have a summer pattern that's like fish scales or mermaid scales? I think this is what caught everybody's eye when it first came. And it was like, “Oh, what is this?” This is just cardboard boxes cut out. A lot of triangles. Just cut out a lot of triangles and put them together and just. That's it. But I also made this cool little beach chair. I don't know if you saw this. I'm going to hold this up. Look at this cute little beach chair that she made out of straws and a little piece of paper. Here it is. Here it is. So cute. You know, you just cut out some paper, stick it on there, glue it down. So easy. And you can just leave it. You can put it at people's places. It's so creative. It's fun. I love doing this. This is something I really love to do. I'm making these little grass skirts out of recycled trash bags. Yeah, it's fun. Just cut it into strips and tie them. I think it would be perfect for a tiki party. You see those decorations everywhere, and sometimes they're a little too expensive. But this is a super cute version that costs almost nothing. Right, a garbage bag. That's it. That's all you need. But I love this. I love the way it gets your brain going. So creative. But it's fun. You can bring everybody together and have a party and do these crafts. Right. So the kids can make something during the party and put it around. It's always fun to give the kids and stuff a little fun. Right. Today is a great day to do that, because I want to limit the time I'm outside, so I can do this. It doesn't matter if it's indoors or outdoors. Right. Go outside and draw. Come back and do a craft. Right. This is so much fun. Now, thank you so much for bringing all these nice things. We're going to have a party with all these decorations. Right. Right.
