After kicking off the year with a blistering set at January's Hello 2024 gig series, SPIDER has now released a new project titled 'an object of dessert'.
The EP is a notable follow-up to last year's HELL OR HIGH WATER, in which the Irish multi-hyphenate delves into the thorny issues of coming of age. Expanding on this idea, she says of the title track: “I feel like everyone, after being intimate with someone, has a moment where they sit alone and go, 'I was supposed to enjoy it, but everyone talks about it.' It's as if this is what I enjoy.” As if I should have, but I didn't, and I don't know why.'' I feel like my heart is broken, but no one talks about it!!''
Commenting on the EP as a whole, SPIDER said that “Object of Desire'' is “a means to explore the conclusions given to it by a religious upbringing that has blanketed this area of life in a very shameful and meaningless situation.'' There was,” he said. It also allowed me to process my anger at how I was mistreated in the past without feeling pressured to stay in “grace.” This project feels like the most personal and freeing work I have ever created!”
