Part of the floor of a shopping mall in China has collapsed, leaving a woman and a construction worker trapped under the rubble. The incident occurred on March 23rd in Zhenjiang City, Jiangsu Province, and shocked many people. The horrifying incident was reportedly caught on surveillance camera.
Emergency personnel quickly arrived at the scene and freed the woman and the construction worker. Mall representative Huang told reporters at the scene that the two people were injured but in stable condition, ABC News reported. A construction worker suffered a leg injury from falling debris, and a shopper suffered a broken bone, Huang said. “They are our customers, so we have taken charge and proactively dealt with the aftermath and provided them with the necessary assistance,” Huang said.
The cause of the collapse is still under investigation, ABC News reported.
Video of the incident shows a woman picking out clothes from a pile of clothes on the floor. As she searches for different things, her floor suddenly collapses on her. The video also shows a woman being engulfed by the collapsed floor. The clip shows another person who narrowly escaped injury.
