Breaking from their recent (relatively) quiet activity with their first music of 2024, Shelf Lives today delivered a new song, “Uncle Fred.” It's a propulsive, ironic number that explores, in the band's words, “what if there was a priest?” (Probably…his name was Fred) Did you love Jesus so much that you thought you might be sexually attracted to him? Can you imagine the inner turmoil and mental turmoil that that would probably cause? It could happen… probably is happening. ”
The track comes from Shelf Lives' electric performance at DIY's Hello 2024 live show in January, and is the duo's first taste of new music following their 2023 EP You OKy? . Check out the video for “Uncle Fred” here.
Shelf Lives are currently thriving on tour with former DIY digital cover stars Lynks, but they have plenty of other gigs on the calendar, including at Hackney's MOTH Club in October It also includes a new London performance.
