To the Editor:
I have known, attended, participated in and produced many concerts and musical events in upstate New York since 1957. On Sunday, June 23rd, I attended one of the finest and most unusual concerts ever held in the upstate, a concert by Seo Jeongmin. I will not go into Seo Jeongmin's background and biography here; it can be found on the Norwood Village Green Concert Series website, nvgcs.org.
The above statements are not hype: you had to be there to experience this artist and her accompanying musicians.
Kudos to Rob Zollner for his professional efforts in working with Technical Director Seo Jumin and overcoming the Korean language barrier, and to Yumi Gilbert, a flower shop owner from Ogdensburg originally from Korea, who provided translation support for the event.
We would also like to extend our sincere gratitude to the management and administrative staff of NNCS for allowing us to use their facilities. The air-conditioned auditorium provided peace of mind and safety for two concerts, Northern Symphonic Winds on Thursday, June 20th and Seo Jungmin on June 23rd. The technical skills of the aforementioned acoustic experts provided the necessary ambience and acoustics for these two performances, with excellent results.
The whole concert was wonderful, but the finale was an artistic triumph: the sound echoed beautifully throughout the venue.
Thanks also to our dedicated staff Holly Goddard, Brenden Bombard, Joshua Jarvis and Sarah Miller who helped move equipment, collect and serve meals and get the auditorium back in order and ready for the Regents exams the next day.
I'm looking forward to the rest of this season. This series gets more exciting when it's outdoors, but Seo Jeongmin's indoor performance was actually better at this concert, and was protected from a possible tornado that was predicted.
