The search intensified Tuesday for a missing Corpus Christi, Texas, college student who was last seen more than a week ago.
San Antonio's NBC affiliate WOAI reported that the mission to find Caleb Harris, 21, a student at Texas A&M Corpus Christi, was conducted in an area behind the North Padre Island apartment complex where he lives. He said he is focusing on the eastern and southern areas of the community.
Hundreds of volunteers are searching the scene, and Corpus Christi police officers and members of the Coast Guard are joining the search for Harris, the department said.
According to police, the man disappeared in the early morning darkness on March 4, and his roommates were unable to find him that day. His family eventually filed a missing persons report.
Police said Harris had a cellphone that was turned off, but left behind his car, keys and wallet.
Family members told Fox News that they were in contact with him until 2:45 a.m. that day. He walked his dog, returned and went outside to meet a food delivery driver, they told the network.
Family members told Fox News that the delivery platform marked the order as complete.
Representatives for police and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi did not immediately respond to requests for further information. Both distributed missing persons bulletins regarding Harris' case.
