SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. — High school seniors residing in or attending a private or public school within the Saratoga Springs City School District can apply for scholarships ranging from $2,500 to $20,000 from the Saratoga Springs Rotary Educational Foundation.
Applicants must earn a degree from an accredited two-year or four-year college or higher vocational institution, according to a press release. A student's academic performance, extracurricular and work activities, community service, and financial need will all be considered when reviewing applications.
Last year, 15 students were awarded scholarships totaling more than $85,000.
“These scholarships represent our belief in and investment in the potential of talented, hard-working local students,” Foundation President Beth Post said in a release.
Founded in 1997, the Saratoga Springs Rotary Educational Foundation envisions a community where education beyond high school is accessible to all and raises funds to support higher education and career training for graduates throughout the Saratoga region.
Reina Ceballos, a Saratoga Springs High School graduate who received the 2021 Presidential Scholarship, said the award “brings me one step closer to my educational goals…You all helped me focus on what's important: learning.” he said.
Online applications for scholarships are currently being accepted on the Foundation's website https://rotaryscholarships.org and must be submitted by April 1st. Final candidates will then be invited for an interview with the Rotary Club Scholarship Committee.
