The San Benito High School District announced it has filed a lawsuit against the San Benito County Board of Education alleging improper approval of its application to establish a new San Benito Technical College. The lawsuit, filed on February 2, 2024, seeks to prevent schools from opening in the fall of 2024. They said it was unfortunate that the San Benito High School District filed the lawsuit. “We are acting in accordance with our statutory authority and will continue to act in accordance with our statutory authority,” spokeswoman Jennifer Logue said. He added that the board will continue to do what is right for students and families. The County Board of Education is confident that the court will find that the Board of Education acted within its statutory authority and proceeded in accordance with the California Charter School Act.
