A WOMAN has been praised for a super clever tattoo that saves her time on DIY projects.
Julie showed off her “functional” inking in a video on her TikTok page, explaining how to make the most of it in every situation.
She began the clip by holding her finger, which has measuring marks tattooed on the side, against a traditional tape measure.
Next, Julie used ink to measure the width of a wooden board, then determined the depth of a glass of water, concrete, and even a business card.
And people in the comments section were quick to weigh in on the tattoo, with many praising Julie's ingenuity.
“A rare occurrence of a tattoo that isn't completely meaningless!” one person wrote.
“They called it a functional tattoo,” another added.
“Actually this is the best tattoo anyone could get,” raved a third.
“As a civil engineer who measures everyday things, I agree,” another wrote.
“I want to do this, to say the least,” said another.
“I can't tell you how many times I've measured things with my fingers because I wish I could get a ruler tattoo!” someone else admitted.
“Now try putting a horizontal bubble on your finger,” joked another.
“Honestly, that's genius!” someone else complimented.
“As a costume designer, this comes in very handy,” another admitted.
“I memorized the distance to the joint and measured it without using the joint, which is definitely better,” said another.
Others say Julie isn't the only one to have a “functional” tattoo on her finger.
“I have a ruler tattoo as a chef at a high-end restaurant. It's very useful,” one person wrote.
“Genius!” Julie replied.
“I have the same tattoo too!” Another added.
“I've had it for about 10 years and it's my absolute favorite!”
“I've had a 3 inch ruler tattoo on my index finger for over 10 years. This one is practical!!” a third wrote.
“I did the exact same thing, but one day at work I cut off the tip of my finger,” said another.
To which Julie said, “Ouch!”
