Park Seo Joon is known for playing charming leading roles in popular romantic comedy dramas. Now, he is set to return as the “King of On-Screen Romance” with a lead role in the new drama “Waiting for the Path of the King” (literally: Waiting for the Path of the King). The production is highly anticipated as it is also a collaboration between the director of “King the Land” and the screenwriter of “39 Years Old”.
Park Seo Joon to star in new romance drama “Waiting for the Road”
On July 8, TV Daily reported that Park Seo Joon has been cast in the lead role of the upcoming romance drama, “Waiting for Kyung-do.” According to reports, he will be playing the role of the male lead named Kyung-do.
The new romance drama will be directed by Lim Hyun-wook, who is known for his work on “The King's Land,” “In the Shadow of You” and “Someone You May Know,” starring Girls' Generation's Yoona.
Working alongside him as a screenwriter is Yoo Young-ah, who has worked on popular dramas such as “39,” “Divorce Lawyer Shin,” and “Encounter” starring Son Ye-jin, as well as “My Brother is Annoying” and “Miracle in Room No. 7” starring EXO's DO.
“Waiting for Kyung Do” is currently in discussions to be broadcast on the JTBC network.
Who is Park Seo Joon?
Park Seo Joon is currently one of the top actors working in the Korean film and television industry. Though he is best known for his work in the romance genre, over the years he has expanded his horizons and risen to the top with different types of work.
In 2011, he officially entered the entertainment industry by appearing in the music video for Korean rapper Bang Yongguk's single “I Remember”. In the following years, he gradually demonstrated his talent by playing supporting roles in many popular K-dramas, including “Dream High 2” (2012), “Pots of Gold” (2013), and “One Warm Word” (2013).
In 2014, he landed his first leading role in the romantic comedy series “Witch's Romance” opposite Uhm Jung-hwa, but his big break came when he starred in “Kill Me, Heal Me” and “She Was Pretty” in 2015. He starred alongside Hwang Jung-eum in both dramas and rose to fame after the hits.
He subsequently gained worldwide fame as a mainstream Korean actor, playing leading roles in popular productions such as “Hwarang,” “My Way,” “What's Wrong with Secretary Kim,” “God's Wrath,” “Itaewon Class,” “Gyeongseong Monster,” and other Korean dramas and films.
