ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — The New York State Association of Realtors has released its March 2024 Monthly Housing Report.
NYSAR announced that housing inventory fell to an all-time low last month. The state's housing stock declined 14.7% from 28,060 units in 2023 to 23,924 units this year, according to data used by NYSAR.
The median sales price rose from $360,000 in March 2023 to $380,000 in 2024.
According to the data, the number of new listings in Monroe County is down 12% from a year ago, the number of homes sold is down 21.5% and the median sales price is up 9%. In Livingston County, the number of new listings decreased by 26.2% from the previous year, and the number of homes sold decreased by 35.8%.
In Ontario County, the number of new properties decreased by 24.8%, the value of new sales decreased by 18.2%, and the median sales price decreased by 5.8%. In Orleans County, the number of new listings decreased by 7.4% and the number of home sales increased by 39.3%.
Median sales prices in Orleans County fell 15.3%, while in Wyoming County they rose 28.6%, according to NYSAR data. Wayne County saw the largest increase in median sales prices in the Greater Rochester region, with March data showing a 55.7% increase compared to the same month last year.
