The Lyons Township High School District 204 School Board approved a Willow Springs resident as its new school board member Monday.
Paula Struwing was appointed to the school board effective May 6, according to a news release. Struwing will fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Dawn Aubert, who will serve until his successor is elected and seated after the April 2025 national election.
Struwing currently works in the education field as a health education and driver education teacher and holds a bachelor's degree in community health education and a master's degree in school health education and educational leadership, the release said. Struwing has extensive experience in school volunteer work as a board member of St. Cletus Parish in La Grange, and also works with the La Grange Pet Parade, Lyons Township Hockey Club, LT Freshman Football, LT I also have extensive experience in community volunteer work through my work with the boys volleyball program. .
During the application process, Struwing said: “I am deeply committed to providing a high-quality public education to current and future students within District 204.
