KEARNEY — Nebraska First Lady Suzanne Pillen visited three Kearney Public Schools (KPS) today, May 6, 2024. The visit is part of her continued efforts to educate the state's youth about the importance of agriculture in Nebraska and help them understand agriculture. where their food and other local resources come from;
The first lady's tour also included stops at Glenwood, Meadowlark and Northeast Elementary Schools, where she interacted with third graders and shared insights about the state's agricultural practices.
This effort is part of the Nebraska Farm Bureau Foundation through the Nebraska Agriculture in the Classroom (AITC) program. AITC is committed to providing students with relevant and accurate agricultural information, connecting them directly to food, fiber and energy sources, and emphasizing the important role agriculture plays in daily life.
During her visit, First Lady Pillen read aloud, “Right This Very Minute,'' a story that explains the value and impact of agriculture.
