The Nebraska basketball team had a busy week filling out the rest of its roster. Former Wisconsin shooting guard Connor Eseghian is projected to go to Nebraska basketball, and Friday morning they got a new prediction in their favor. This prediction was made by Robin Washut of his On3.
Essegian visited Lincoln earlier this week and also visited Indiana on Wednesday.
Essesian should be a familiar name to Nebraska basketball fans. The show picked him up earlier this week and appears to have him as a top target. He averaged 3.2 points and shot 38.5 percent from the field for the Badgers last season.
In fact, Essegian played at a high level when Nebraska faced Wisconsin in January, scoring 12 points in 12 minutes off the bench. He kept Nebraska's basketball defense fit throughout the game with his quick release.
Essegian shot 34.5% from beyond the arc in his two seasons at Wisconsin. In fact, he had a better season in 2022-23. He averaged 11.7 points per game and shot 40.4 percent in 27 minutes of play. This would be a more accurate representation of what he is capable of as both a shooter and a volume scorer.
What could he bring to Nebraska basketball?
Essegian would fill Nebraska's need for a high-volume shooting guard. They already acquired guards Gavin Griffith and Rory Wurster earlier this week, and now Essegian is just another option at the guard position for Nebraska basketball.
One of the biggest questions this offseason was how to replace Takanari Tominaga in terms of scoring. Although this is not a complete answer, getting an essejan will definitely help.
Whether he commits to Nebraska basketball remains to be seen, but these are certainly positive trends. This will meet an immediate need and put the program in a good position as staff leave.
