In a viral video, Alyssa (@home.and.chaos) revealed three items she swears by to remove grime from every surface in her home.
First, the Instagrammer added 1 cup of baking soda to a measuring jug.
She then measured out half a cup of hydrogen peroxide, which you can buy at CVS for just $1.19.
Finally, Alyssa poured half a cup of Dawn dish soap into the mixture and stirred it.
Once all the ingredients were combined into a paste, she used it on various stains.
First, she poured the solution over the stain on the rug before scrubbing.

She suggested applying stain remover and scrubbing, then rinsing or steaming to remove any residue.
According to experts at Scientific America, hydrogen peroxide doesn't actually remove dirt so much that it becomes invisible.
“This breaks the strong chemical bonds in the stain, in which case the stain becomes colorless, but the stain is still there,” the researchers explained.
Thought Co's experts have uncovered why dish detergent is an essential ingredient for removing stains.
They explained that dish detergent contains emulsifiers and surfactants, which work together to remove stubborn spills.
“Emulsifiers coat stains and help remove them from surfaces,” experts say.
Tips to remove yellowing sweat stains
Yellow stains on the armpits affect everyone, whether a person admits it or not. But help is at hand. To remove yellowing from clothes, experts recommend the following methods:
- baking soda paste: The pros at The Laundry Cafe recommend mixing 1 tablespoon hydrogen peroxide with 1 tablespoon salt and 1/2 cup baking soda. Apply directly to the stained area with a toothbrush, scrub, leave for at least an hour, then wash as usual.
- oxygen bleach: This method is equally useful for removing yellowing. Mix 1 part oxygen bleach and 1 part ammonia in a non-metallic bowl. Wear gloves during this application. Rub it into the fabric with a toothbrush and let the solution sit for at least 10 minutes before washing as normal.
- Stain remover, detergent etc.: Dirt on the collar is just as difficult to remove as dirt on the armpits. So, pre-treat the area with a solvent-based stain remover or detergent. Apply the product to the collar with a toothbrush and let it sit for at least 10 minutes before washing.
“Surfactants increase the wettability of the material, making it easier for stain removers to contact and remove stains.”
According to Grove, baking soda's chemical composition makes it an effective stain remover.
“Baking soda is an alkali that interacts with and helps remove acidic ingredients and stains, such as coffee, condiments, and body fluids,” the expert explained.
Instagram users shared their thoughts on the hack in the comments section.
“Hydrogen peroxide is magic for stains!” one follower wrote, impressed.
Another viewer said: “This is the paste I use now to remove stains from laundry. It also removes marks from walls, thank you.”
Another source commented, “It's always the dawn of victory.''
