A laundry expert shares her homemade stain-proof remover.
She demonstrated the power of her cleaning hack on tough stains like Chick-fil-A sauce on a white shirt.
Taylor (@taybrett) shared this cleaning product in a viral TikTok video.
To create the do-it-all concoction, she gathered two common household items.
“There are three things you need: a spray bottle, hydrogen peroxide, and Blue Dawn dish soap,” she said.
She filled the bottle three-quarters of the way with hydrogen peroxide and the rest with dish soap.
“This stain remover is great for white items. I also use it for colored items,” she explained.
“This is a white T-shirt that my 4-year-old son has covered in Chick-fil-A sauce.”
After spraying the shirt with a hose, she threw it in the washing machine as usual.
Once the wash cycle was finished, she revealed that the stain “came right off.”
One commenter said, “I've been using this for years and it's really great.”
“Baking soda is also effective on grease and grease stains. I have five children, so I learned quickly.”
“This goes well with red wine,” added another.
One woman explained that she swears by this hack to get rid of stains on her extended family's laundry.
“I use this recipe too! As a mother of seven children and four grandchildren, it's a game changer,” she said.
Other moms shared their laundry hacks and homemade recipes.
Tips to remove yellowing sweat stains
Yellow stains on the armpits affect everyone, whether a person admits it or not. But help is at hand. To remove yellowing from clothes, experts recommend the following methods:
- baking soda paste: The pros at The Laundry Cafe recommend mixing 1 tablespoon of hydrogen peroxide with 1 tablespoon of salt and 1/2 cup of baking soda. Apply directly to the stained area with a toothbrush, scrub, leave for at least an hour, then wash as usual.
- oxygen bleach: This method is equally useful for removing yellowing. Mix 1 part oxygen bleach and 1 part ammonia in a non-metallic bowl. Wear gloves during this application. Rub it into the fabric with a toothbrush and let the solution sit for at least 10 minutes before washing as normal.
- Stain remover, detergent etc.: Dirt on the collar is just as difficult to remove as dirt on the armpits. So, pre-treat the area with a solvent-based stain remover or detergent. Apply the product to the collar with a toothbrush and let it sit for at least 10 minutes before washing.
One person explained that the ingredient alone is often sufficient for stubborn stains.
“Peroxide works on its own on blood, and Ajax soap works on all kinds of dirt, so I use that all the time. I work with oils and fats,” she says. I did.
“I use hydrogen peroxide for blood stains,” another added.
“It's okay even on carpet!”
Taylor agreed that peroxide works “magically” on blood.
A mum has shared a trick to double down on stubborn stains.
“If it's really stubborn, add baking soda or oxy powder,” she said.
