A woman has revealed that when she moved into council chambers, it was left in a “terrible” condition.
The single mother of four from the UK explained that she was “disgusted” by the interior design and decided to save money and renovate the house herself.
The woman, who has a passion for design, posted on social media under the username “Meet the HJ Family” and shared the clip online, writing: “We remodeled Parliament on a budget.”
Then she said: “When we got here, the house was terrible. It was not maintained at all.
“The interior… it gives me chills when I think about it.
“I’m a single mother, I have my own business and I’m also a fashion designer, but I don’t earn that much, so I couldn’t afford to rent a private rental or anything like that on council property.
“When we first moved into this house, all five of us slept in the same room, which had carpet.
“We've been working on it little by little over time, but it's not completely finished yet. The bathroom and upstairs toilet are still there.
“It's been really hard to get things done. Half the work I've done myself. In fact, I've done most of the work myself.
“It was so bad that we had someone come in to plaster the dining room.”
The savvy mom explained that she learned DIY skills by watching others online and was able to do most of the work herself.
She added: “After seeing other people painting and sanding, I ended up doing it myself.
“I laid the floor tiles myself, installed all the doors myself, and did the garden myself.
“There are a lot of things in this house that I did myself.
I may not be up to everyone's standards, but it was tough and I'm proud of myself.

“Even the kitchen was an old council kitchen and it wasn’t very nice so we decided to get some cupboard paint and paint it white.
“I still have a lot of work to do, but I'm very proud of myself. I've never relied on anyone to do this for me, I've basically done it myself.
“It may not have been up to everyone's standards, but it was tough and I'm proud of myself. It's going great.”
