At the beginning of this year, I was truly amazed by the rapid and continuous results that SpaceX has achieved. So I decided that I wanted to do a SpaceX related project. Being a SpaceX fan for several years now, I decided to go with a Falcon 9 inspired look for my build. I say “inspired by” because while we took some overall proportions from the Falcon 9 rocket, there were a lot of changes that needed to be made to make the “rocket” work at the scale we were trying to build it. Because there was. The “rocket” has a deployable landing gear, a thrust vector control unit and uses a 6s 70mm 12-blade fan capable of 2.5 kg of thrust. The thrust vector control unit is controlled by his Pixhawk X4 running his Ardupilot V4.0.4 configured as a single copter. I'm basically building his one helicopter in the shape of a rocket.
