A university researcher found dead at home – whose wife was killed in a suspected murder case – was unlawfully killed, a coroner has ruled.
Dr Min-guk Seo, 32, who worked at Cranfield University in Bedfordshire, was found dead at his home in Countess Way, Broughton, Milton Keynes, on January 25, 2022. .
His wife, Byeong Joo Jeong, was under police investigation when she took her own life on May 3, 2022.
Thames Valley Police said after the inquest into Dr Seo's death that if Ms Joo Jeong were still alive, they would have tried to charge her with her husband's murder.
Controlling Behavior
Bedfordshire and Luton coroner Sean Cummings concluded at the hearing in Milton Keynes that Dr So was “unlawfully killed”.
Later, Metropolitan Police Inspector Nicola Underhill said Dr So had been the victim of “years of oppressive and controlling behavior, as well as physical and emotional abuse”.
