The current buzz surrounding Michigan State basketball is all about the transfer of Frankie Fiddler. The talented forward from Omaha just visited East Lansing last week, his last visit with a top-four school. While the visit seemed to go very well for the Spartans, there were still a lot of unknowns about where MSU stood as Fiddler postponed a commitment scheduled for Monday.
No future commitment dates have been announced, so we're just stuck in this weird limbo without knowing if his Michigan State visit went well or not. That was until 247Sports insider Justin Shinde shared information about Fiddler's recruiting efforts with the public.
On the latest episode of the SD4L Show, Justin Shinde shared a number of details about Fiddler's hiring with co-host Matt Sheehan. And it's safe to say this is very good news for Spartans fans.
Justin Shinde talked about Fiddler's visit to East Lansing, and Frankie said, “It was as great a visit as Michigan State could have hoped for.”
Shinde then started talking about Fiddler canceling his original commitment date for Monday of this week and how that bodes well for MSU as well. “Good news for Michigan State, I think no matter how you look at it. Wisconsin, they've been ahead here for at least a week, maybe more…” Shinde continued. At least on Monday, the two-and-a-half week difference had disappeared to the point where it was no longer possible to decide, and he did not fall to second place. ”
He concluded this discussion about Fiddler by saying, “Michigan State is the team that's paying attention right now. Now they just have to hold out until he announces his commitment.”
The only thing Justin didn't share is that he doesn't know when he'll get an appointment from Fiddler. He said it should happen within a week or two of the originally scheduled appointment date, but nothing has been decided yet.
At this point, I don't even care when he commits. Sure, the sooner the better for MSU, but the fact that this recruitment is trending to be good news for Michigan State is all I need to hear. As Shinde said, the Spartans will have to hold out until Fiddler announces his commitment, but for the time being, this recruitment is going as smoothly as it can for Tom Izzo and Michigan State.
