State and Dakota County leaders officially announced the arrival of a Fortune 500 company to Rosemount.
Gov. Tim Walz, Dakota County, University of Minnesota and City of Rosemount officials announced Thursday morning that meth would be moving into the city.
The building, the company's 19th data center in the US, will reportedly be supported by 100% renewable energy.
Meta plans to build an $800 million, 715,000-square-foot data center in the city that will employ about 100 people, Walz's office said. Additionally, he expects at least 1,000 trade-related jobs to be available at the peak of construction.
“We are very excited to make Minnesota and Rosemount our new home. We are committed to playing an active role here and investing in the long-term vitality of our community. Rosemount stood out as an excellent location for our state-of-the-art data center thanks to its excellent access to infrastructure, deep talent pool, and great community partners. We would like to thank all of our partners for their support,” said Brad Davis, Director of Data Center Community and Economic Development at Meta.
The announcement comes months after the Rosemount City Council unanimously approved a site to be used by Facebook parent company Meta for part of the University of Minnesota's Humor Park.
