A man has shared his secret trick to keep flies out of his house this summer using just two household items.
John Brown, Tennesseerevealed the insight to his 136,000 followers on TikTok.
The dad, who describes himself as a “home hack DIY guy”, explained how easy it is to get rid of the pesky visitors.
And other social media users flooded the comments section to praise the little-known technology.
In the video, which has been viewed more than 3.8 million times so far, John begins: “If you want to rid your house of flies this summer, follow me…
'Today I'm going to show you how to create a solution that you can put outside your door, such as a plant right outside your front door or entrance.
“It should attract flies to congregate there rather than coming into your home in the first place.”
“All you need is water and sugar.”
He continued, “So what we're going to do is we're going to make a solution of two parts water and one part sugar.”
The content creator then poured the ingredients into a bowl, stirred it with a spoon, and then set it outside the house.
“The sugar you put in there is what draws them in,” John said.
“And once they fall into the water, they can't get out again and they die there.”
“Then they [your home] in the first place.”
