Kelly Mooney wins Republican primary for Alabama Board of Education District 3

Kelly Mooney won the Republican primary on Tuesday, March 5th and was elected to the Alabama Board of Education District 3.
“I am humbled by God’s favor in this race,” Mooney said. “We've got a great team behind us, and I'll be forever grateful for that.”
Statewide, Mooney received approximately 38,000 votes, accounting for more than 50% of the total vote. In Shelby County, Mooney received more than 15,000 votes, nearly 60% of the total vote.
Mr. Mooney serves on the Alabama Board of Education District 3, which represents multiple counties including Shelby, Bibb, Chilton, Coosa, Elmore, and portions of Jefferson, Talladega, and Montgomery counties. I will serve.
“As we move forward, I look forward to working with the Board of Education and all stakeholders to ensure that all students in our district receive a quality education and to work together to address these concerns about our education system. I’m thinking of coming.”
Mr. Mooney defeated Republican candidates Melissa B. Snowden, Charlotte Meadows, and Anne C. Eubank.

Mooney replaces Stephanie Bell, who is not running for re-election after serving on the state council for 30 years. Mr. Bell was first elected in 1994 and was re-elected for eight consecutive terms. Mr. Bell is the longest serving member of the Board of Directors and has twice served as Vice President.
Mooney is a parent advocate in the education community and a member of the Shelby County Republican Women.
Mooney served as administrator of Briarwood Christian School for 15 years, dedicated to helping parents and families receive the best education possible for their children. Mooney is a mother of three, grandmother of 11, and has been married to state Rep. Arnold Mooney for more than 41 years.
Mr. Mooney advocates for school choice, back-to-basics curriculum, fiscal responsibility and transparency, as well as parental choice in educational matters.
