Kate Lawlor has hit back after being accused of “abusing” and “criticizing” small businesses.
The 43-year-old This Morning star tried to make her own balloon arch for her mother-in-law's 70th birthday.
But after sharing his DIY skills with his 517,000 followers on Instagram, he faced unexpected harsh ridicule and harsh criticism.
Wanting to make her celebrations special, Kate wanted to do something special for the event, but after being offered a quote of £250, she decided on a bright and witty alternative. I came up with this.
Kate decided to try her hand at DIY skills and save money by making things herself.
She admitted that she knew her handiwork wasn't as polished as a professional's, but considering there were only 20 people in the party, she wanted to give it a try anyway.
The blonde beauty proudly showed off her £67 creation on Instagram, but professional balloon artists were soon attacking her in the comments.
Some of them say: “As a balloon/prop/decoration company doing exactly this kind of setup, I think we've highlighted why it costs £200 from a professional.'' Your product will do the job, but compare It will not be. ”
“You get what you pay for, and I think you seriously dissed all of us balloon artists. Our costs include premium branded balloons, technology, and labor.”
“I guess if you're happy then it's all well and good, but to me it looks pretty awful, there are so many mistakes, but hey, whatever floats your boat!”
“Thank you Kate, it's clear you don't know anything about professional balloon artists or how much work goes into our work. We put heart and soul into our business. Now's also our time to not only pour money in. How do you expect us to work for free? Perhaps people should consider before criticizing how much it actually costs. I guess you want to think carefully.”
“Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha Hahahaha? That's gross lol. I didn't even inflate the balloons enough and companies usually charge 3 times the cost of goods sold, which they obviously don't understand either. Jesus, my neck is… Shining for you. Embarrassing'
'And that's why it looks like that. Stop it, Kate We charge what we charge because we do it for a living, for people who value beautiful things and their time. That's like saying you want to pay wholesale price for your next outfit.'
Following a series of harsh comments, Kate created a video to hit back at haters and trolls, saying she “couldn't stand” the backlash.
Mother said: “Guys, I'm completely torn up on Instagram and I can't stand it. I have to speak my mind, I have to stand up for myself.
“All I did was buy an easel on Amazon, a welcome board on Etsy and some balloons from Ginger Ray UK. I'm wiped out.
“I am 'abusing' and 'criticizing' the Balloon Arch community. Oh, the Karen tribe has gathered together!
“Kate, you should be ashamed of yourself for not supporting small businesses!” “Kate, you showed the internet who you are!” I made my own balloon arch!
“Honestly, I can't resist! Some people can't afford to pay £250 for a balloon arch if they're just having a small gathering of 20 people at home like I did for Sue's birthday.
“The average age was 70. They don't really appreciate big balloon arches.”
She shook off the criticism by dancing with the balloons she used to create an arch while singing Kris Kristofferson's “Don't Let The B*stards Get You Down.''
This isn't the only time Kate has had to defend herself on her social media pages after being shamed by her mother in November 2023.
She hit back at the trolls who shamed her on Instagram after learning her daughter Noah was still sleeping in his crib.
A video of Noah, who will turn 3 in February, singing under the mattress in his crib prompted an inviting comment from a follower.
A user left not one but two comments and said:
Kate simply replied, “You'll never be able to lift the mattress on your bed.” That's why it's no good.'' [on a video of her lifting her tiny mattress]
The follower commented again: “I think she's growing up (sic) and she'll feel like a bigger girl in her little bed!!!!”
Kate also applauded: “She doesn't need a bed to feel like a 'bigger girl'. Don't tell others how your kids feel when you don't know.”
“Also, this was not a post to ask for advice on Noah's sleeping arrangements. When we say goodnight and leave the room, she is so content and so happy in her crib that she stays all night. He sleeps, never wakes us up, and sleeps from 7 to 8 in the morning.
“Why on earth would I need to turn her into a bed?” If she doesn't have enough space to sleep or move around, I'll buy her a bed. ”
The rest of Duchess Kate's fans also supported her, sharing stories of their children acting strangely in their cribs.
The video is a far cry from an early November video in which a restless Noah threw things out of his crib and the most liked comment suggested he buy Kate a bed. .
“Maybe she needs a bigger actual bed now?” We did that to our 2-year-old and she's sleeping so much better now,” said one polite fan. Ta.
“Maybe she's actually ready to put on a bed now,” another fan said, while a somewhat passive-aggressive fan said, “Her bed is so small!” Is it a travel bed?
A more outspoken fan said, “Does she need to be in a regular bed??”
In December 2022, Kate shocked the internet when she shared a video of her then-22-month-old Noah identifying different dog breeds.
Kate gave birth to her first child, Noah Daisy Ilse, in February 2021, but admitted she was worried she wouldn't be able to get pregnant due to her low egg count.
Noah's father is podcast producer Martin Voitos, whom Kate married in 2022 after nine years of dating.
Kate became Big Brother's first female winner when she won the show's third series in 2002.
