Stacey Solomon jokes that she hopes her husband Joe Swash realizes she's always right after the couple didn't take her advice and their home renovation went way over budget. Ta.
The 34-year-old Loose Women panelist loves a good DIY project. And now Stacey has come to the rescue to help Brits in her latest TV venture, Renovation Rescue.
The new series, which will air on Channel 4, follows interiors enthusiasts helping people who encounter unscrupulous builders.
Whether it's bricklaying or basic plumbing, Stacey will be getting excited about projects herself and will be sharing the tips she picked up while renovating her £1.2 million Pickle Cottage home.
In tonight's episode, the mother-of-five traveled to St Ives, Cambridgeshire, to help young couple Sharika and Imani.
The couple saved hard to buy their first home, but the builder let them down and they were unable to live in it even after a year.
Stacey told the couple she could really see the potential of the house and began helping them tackle the construction themselves.
Sharika has expensive tastes and, despite the couple's £10,000 budget, they were desperate to install a pot filler in the kitchen and tile the floor with marble.
Stacey suggested the couple tile the floor with porcelain instead, which would save them around £600, but Sharika insisted they choose a more expensive material.
The tile looked great in the end, but after it was installed, Sharika said she wouldn't recommend marble to anyone.
She said: “However, it is true that it was difficult to cut, lay, and clean.
“It was difficult in every way.”
A cheeky Stacey retorted, “I don’t want to say I said that.
“I really hope this is left in the show so my husband understands that I am right about a lot of things.”
Due to the expensive tiles, the couple ended up going £4,000 over budget and struggled to complete the property.
Despite running out of cash, Sharika and Imani were able to DIY the rest of their home using materials they already had with the help of Renovation Rescue's resident builder Aggie.
