You don't have to spend an arm and a leg to give your home a classy look.
One DIY enthusiast showed his followers the trick he used to replicate Anthropologie's pricey nightstand.
Erika (@peonyandhoney) explained in the video that the furniture was out of her price range.
“I saw this nightstand at Anthropologie and it was $900. Your girlfriend can't afford that, but what we can do is DIY,” the TikToker said.
She started by showing the audience Anthropologie's $898 Fern Nightstand.
Before starting her DIY project, Erica told her followers, “With minimal supplies and tools.”
First, she assembled two nightstands. The cost for her purchase from Amazon was $73.
Next, I added some wood trim to the nightstands using 1/4 inch x 3 foot boards from Lowe's.
“I cut it to fit the width of the nightstand,” Erika explained before securing the drawers to the top and bottom of both drawers.
“Make sure to only install it at the front of the drawer so the drawer can be opened.”
I then cut the remaining wood to fit the sides of the drawer and used it to complete the wood trim frame.
Erica then measured and cut the pole wraps to fit inside each wooden frame.
She used wood putty and glue to fill in the gaps and give it a smooth finish before painting.
After sanding and adding dark gray paint, I attached the table legs to each piece.
“I found legs that look almost identical to the ones on the Anthropologie nightstand on Etsy,” Erica explained.
She showed viewers a set of four wooden table legs that cost $53.
For finishing touches, she added $13 brass knobs to the drawers and a marble board to the top of the stand.
“It fits perfectly on the top of my nightstand. The measurements are perfect,” she said while showing off the $50 marble board to her followers.
Erica's viewers shared their thoughts on the home decor DIY, which totaled about $200.
One said: “I think it's perfect for me! Well done!”
Another viewer wrote: “I can't believe I found a marble pastry board that fits perfectly! What a great hack.”
One follower commented: “I actually like your nightstand better than the Anthropologie one. Great job.”
“I'm so impressed and grateful for this tutorial! I had my eye on a nightstand but couldn't afford two! Now I can make one. Thanks for sharing! Very You look gorgeous!” said a third person.
