Professional stylists reveal that three affordable ingredients can be combined to create a powerful hair growth solution.
He shared his expert tips to reduce hair loss and improve hair health.
Luke Sawyer is the Director of Taylor Taylor London Portobello Salon and has over 25 years of haircare knowledge.
In an interview with The US Sun, he revealed that he uses Davines' Energising range on his clients' weak and thinning hair.
He said the product “gently cleanses” hair and is less damaging to the scalp than products laden with chemicals.
However, there are some home remedies that can help you maintain your hair's fullness.
“I've worked with many patients over the years who suffer from alopecia and once they receive and follow the right advice, they always come back feeling positive,” he said.
“There are no miracle cures, but there is always room for improvement.”
Strand Savior
Sawyer said damaged hair can be improved with health-boosting treatments and gentle brushing.
He shared a DIY treatment that he highly recommends.

“Rubbing rosemary into the scalp can help stimulate growth,” he says.
“Another great remedy is to mix a spoonful of moringa powder with cloves and hibiscus leaves.
“Just boil it in water, leave it in the fridge overnight, transfer it to a spray bottle and spray liberally onto damp hair, massaging into the scalp.”
Style Saver
Sawyer said there is no specific hairstyle that can fix thinning hair, but it is possible to make hair look fuller.
“Instead of leaving your hair long, cut it to its fullest point to create volume. You can also cut it shorter all over or cut it into a bob,” he says.
“If you make your bangs stronger or move your part, it will lessen the effect of thinning hair.
“Cutting your hair definitely helps it grow back fuller and look healthier.”
Hair Heroes
Sawyer said smoking was one lifestyle factor that increased the risk of hair loss.
He revealed that damage caused by smoking to hair follicles and cells makes it easier to identify habitual smokers.
What causes hair loss?
Luke Sawyer is the Director of Taylor Taylor London Portobello Salon.
He revealed common causes of hair loss to the US Sun.
“There are many different causes of hair loss in women, but most are hormone-related and can occur post-partum, during menopause and, most commonly, during perimenopause,” he said.
“It can be temporary or permanent.
“Not only is it influenced by hormones, but it can also be caused by stress, iron deficiency or anaemia, illness and normal genetics that come with ageing. It is more common in men, with female pattern baldness being a genetic condition, just as male pattern baldness is a genetic condition.”
He warned that in addition to not smoking, people should maintain a healthy diet to keep their hair in optimum health.
“Get plenty of vitamins B and D from whole grains, nuts, meat, liver, poultry, fish, eggs, dairy products, fruits and vegetables,” he said.
“Lack of essential fats, omega-3 and omega-6 can lead to dry, itchy scalp and skin, so make sure your diet is also rich in fish, nuts, flaxseed and whole grains.”
“Magnesium is a great supplement. It plays a vital role in new hair growth. I tell all my clients to start thinking about collagen supplements around age 35.”
Sawyer said collagen supplements could also help with menopausal hair loss.
The time it takes for hair to regrow varies.
“For example, menopausal hair loss is often not permanent, but female pattern hair loss is genetic and therefore unlikely to regrow,” Sawyer says.
“In this case, it's important to look after your hair, treat it with care, and live a healthy lifestyle to keep it in the best condition possible.”
