Exclusive – According to the latest polls, Republicans are gaining ground among Hispanic voters in two battleground states.
The poll was conducted by the American Principles Project and was the first to be released to the public. Washington Examiner, A survey of 500 Latinos likely to vote in the general election in Arizona and Nevada found that former President Donald Trump is closing in on President Joe Biden in both states.
Opinion polls show that Trump and Biden are neck-and-neck in Arizona, and Biden has a 2-point lead in Nevada.
“Joe Biden and the Democratic Party should be very concerned,” said Alfonso Aguilar, APP Hispanic engagement director. “They've taken the Hispanic vote for granted for years, but their far-left extremism has finally brought many Hispanics closer to their values, like Donald Trump. It’s making us reconsider Republican candidates.”
Complete voting results can be found here.
Values were also part of the survey, and respondents were asked to answer several questions about the culture wars.
The poll found that 60% of respondents support laws banning male participation in women's sports, 57% support banning gender reassignment surgery for children under 18, and 64% support banning gender reassignment surgery for children under 18. The survey found support for requiring schools to notify parents if they begin to identify themselves as such.
When it comes to abortion, 67% support a 12-week ban with exceptions for rape, incest, endangering the mother's life, and severe birth defects.
57% of respondents to the APP poll disagreed with using the label “Latino” to describe their community, and 79% said many Americans “focus too much on race.” 67% agree that schools should focus on topics such as: Leave the “issues of gender and race'' to the parents, and focus on reading and math.
The economy was the No. 1 issue for poll respondents, and Aguilar said she remembers the employment situation improving under the Trump administration.
“Under the Trump administration, Hispanic unemployment was at an all-time low, but household incomes were at an all-time high,” he said. “Hispanics were very happy in terms of their lifestyle in that millions of them literally left the welfare system and joined the middle class. That's the American Dream. .”
Immigration was cited as the No. 2 issue, with many respondents saying they supported border security measures such as deportation, detention, and a Remain in Mexico policy.
“It's going to be very difficult for Biden to win Nevada and Arizona by that margin,” Aguilar said. “Democrats really need broad support from Hispanics, and that's not happening, and support for Mr. Trump is going up. It's really a massive realignment.”
Perhaps sensing this change, Mr. Biden launched a “Latino Support Biden-Harris'' initiative at a Mexican restaurant in Phoenix this week.
When it was his turn to speak, Biden said, “I beat Donald Trump in large part because of you.” “I really need you.”

Unlike previous Biden events, the word “Latino” was not used at the Phoenix presentation.
