More and more companies are using data science to track trends and find new customers.
Lujia (Luke) Zhang, senior data scientist and prototype architect at Resultant, says companies can use data science to leverage machine learning and even artificial intelligence.
Zhang, a graduate of Terre Haute's Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, uses Google data to help state and federal agencies track trends and use data to improve services. He says data science is the art of collecting important information and using it to make decisions. He likens it to putting all your cards on the table to get a clear idea of the direction your business should pursue.
Small businesses can use data science to gain an edge over their competitors. Zhang shares how some companies leveraged data science during the COVID-19 outbreak. Many companies could use data to see increased usage of hand sanitizer and other products. This data has allowed companies to stay ahead of trends and increase sales.
Zhang, who moved to Indiana from China when he was just 16 years old, said he loves living in Indiana and wants to see more local talent stay here after graduation. “There are a lot of great things happening here,” said Zhang, who recently received his TechPoint Resilience Award at the annual MIRA Awards.
