Few bands have managed to build a legacy as glorious as Green Day, let alone maintain such an important political voice. That's why we at DIY are thrilled to have some true punk rock legends on our cover this month, just weeks after the release of their mighty 14th (!) record, Saviors. I am. In this issue, we interview Billy, Mike, and Tre to discuss their latest chapter and ahead of what is arguably their biggest year ever, marking the anniversary of both Dookie and American Idiot. “Somehow we always manage to create the next era and it spreads across generations. I think it's the energy of music and the way we play together. It's me, Mike and Tre. It's our own characters that shine through all of us,” Billy says of their timeless charm, with Mike adding: “It's our own characters that shine through. “We believe in the power of rock and roll. When everything else in the world is shit, the three of us can walk into a room and speak our language. Others too. You should be lucky.”
