Google's March 2024 spam update has been rolled out. The spam update started about 15 days ago on March 5th.
The March 2024 Core Update is still rolling out and is likely to continue rolling out over the next few weeks. The spam update started on March 5th and took him 14 days and 21 hours to deploy until he finished on March 20th.
“Deployment completed on March 20, 2024,” Google wrote this morning.
March 2024 Spam Update. Google didn't say anything new about the spam update announcement. “In addition to our new spam policy, we're also releasing the March 2024 spam update today,” Google's Chris Nelson wrote on March 5.
Google's spam update documentation is here:
Our automated system for detecting search spam is always running, but from time to time we make notable improvements to the way our system works. In that case, we'll call it “''. spam update Share any updates to the Google Search Ranking Updates list.
For example, SpamBrain is an AI-based spam prevention system. We continually improve our systems to better spot spam and ensure we catch new types of spam.
Sites that have undergone changes since the spam update should review their spam policies to ensure compliance with them. Sites that violate our policies may be ranked lower in search results or may not appear in search results at all. If our automated systems learn over several months that your site complies with our spam policies, changes you make may help improve your site.
For link spam updates (particularly updates that address link spam), the changes you make may not provide any improvement. This is because as our system removes the potential impact of spam links, you lose any ranking advantage that those links previously generated for your site. You cannot recover the potential ranking benefits generated by these links.
New spam policy. As previously mentioned, Google has introduced three new spam policies:
- Massive Content Abuse.
- Abuse of expired domains.
- Misuse of the site's reputation.
The first two came into effect immediately, but site reputation abuse won't come into force until May.
Immediately after Google implemented these spam policies, a large number of manual responses related to pure spam issues occurred. Manual action is not directly related to spam updates, so there is no manual action, and algorithmic demotion occurs.
Manual actions and algorithm updates. It's important to note that manual operations are performed by humans at Google. A human reviews the site and determines whether it violates the spam policy. Although Google may automate some of the processes for discovering these violations, they are considered “manual” by Google.
Algorithm updates (such as the March 2024 core update and spam updates) are automated. If your site is negatively (or positively) affected by an algorithm update, Google won't notify you through the manual actions viewer in Google Search Console. Websites can be affected by both manual actions and algorithm updates.
why do we care? Between core updates, spam updates, and the new spam policy manual efforts, Google's search results have changed significantly. The core update is not yet complete, so Google urged people to be patient before making any changes. Therefore, wait until the core update is complete before making any major changes.
We still expect changes related to core updates, but you never know where your site will end up. The March 2024 spam update is complete, but it won't be the last spam update Google releases. Plus, the core update is still running, so fasten your seatbelts. It's not done yet.
